Producers have convinced both the US and British governments to allow them to use real locations for the series, including more recently the US Embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Great Britain allowed filming in the office of the foreign minister, which is a rare honor for any film or screen production, especially an American one.
Shown at the 75th Emmy Awards (2024)
Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 acres) in London, excluding Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming.. There was a moment, I think it was somewhere in the middle of the first season of the series, when one of the subplots went a little in a different direction than I expected, and that was good. Otherwise, the dysfunctional relationships – both personal and professional – between the main characters somehow work, and I like it. The screenwriters did a good job of keeping the action clearly focused.
And it’s very good
Both characters and plots work. Of course, it’s not very believable, but it’s fun and tense at times. “Madame Secretary of State” is not; and this is not “Vice President”. I should also note that the acting and dialogues are also quite good.
Are they believable?
The casting was well done. Again, no. But that’s normal. Very quickly I realized that this is fantasy, not reality.
Please don’t screw up
Netflix has done a good job on this. I’m really looking forward to season 2.
